Taking the Eagle Nation to the World

From the Vice President for University Advancement

selindaIt’s an exciting time at Georgia Southern University! Our record enrollment, surging school spirit and lofty goals make it a great place to be.

University Advancement’s mission is to look at the University’s priorities and then examine which alumni, friends, parents, corporations and foundations can partner with us in making them possible.

Not just Georgia Southern, but many institutions have found themselves with fewer and fewer state and federal funds. Philanthropy has become a necessity for some of the basic functions of the University, not to mention being able to move forward with the University’s special initiatives.

As the president cites his vision for the institution and the leadership team comes forward with what they believe the institutional priorities should be, University Advancement must support that vision to make it happen through philanthropic efforts.

These efforts are challenging at times, but are always rewarding as well. We can look back with our donors and marvel at what we were able to accomplish.

We can see it when we look at some of the buildings on campus. We can see it when students are successful and know there was philanthropy behind their ability to go to school. We can see it when there are excellent professors and they are persuaded to stay, because philanthropy, in the form of faculty support, helped to keep them at Georgia Southern.

We hope you will find all the information you need to join us in our endeavors at Georgia Southern, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with you in the University’s future.
