Georgia Southern University appreciates the generous support of alumni and friends at all levels of giving. Your gifts allow the University to fund worthy endeavors, including scholarships and initiatives to enhance teaching, research, cultural activities, and economic development. The various giving societies are based on your annual as well as cumulative giving to the University.

Marvin S. Pittman Society members are among Georgia Southern’s most distinguished and loyal supporters, serving as the foundation for building a stronger future at Georgia Southern. Membership in the society is extended to contributors who have accumulated lifetime giving of $25,000 or more to Georgia Southern University.

Couples’ gifts are combined to count as one household. Matching gifts, as well as gifts-in-kind, will be counted in the cumulative giving totals. Contribution totals are calculated at the close of the fiscal accounting period July 1 through June 30 each year.

1906 Society

Membership in The 1906 Annual Giving Society is extended to contributors who make annual gifts of $1,200 or more and have accumulated lifetime giving up to $24,999 to Georgia Southern University.

Couples’ gifts are combined to count as one household. Matching gifts, as well as gifts-in-kind, are counted in the cumulative giving totals. Contribution totals are calculated at the close of the fiscal accounting period July 1 through June 30 each year.

Legacy Society

Legacy Society members demonstrate an unwavering confidence in Georgia Southern University by choosing to make deferred gifts that will come to the University at a future date.

The Legacy Society honors in perpetuity those who make a commitment to provide support through their estates by means of wills, bequests, or trusts. The Georgia Southern Foundation will certify individuals or couples who complete the required documentation of their deferred gifts.

Planned giving represents a significant gift to Georgia Southern and also provides creative and flexible strategies for your estate and charitable planning. Most importantly, your planned gift has a meaningful impact, supporting the work of the University that is important to you while educating the next generation of leaders.
