Message from the President

Faculty, staff, students, and friends are invited to help welcome Georgia Southern’s 14th President when he starts work on Monday, April 1. Dr. Kyle Marrero, his wife, Jane, and his daughter, Lily, are scheduled to arrive in front of the Marvin Pittman Administration building on the Statesboro Campus at 8:30 a.m., and in front of Burnett Hall on the Armstrong Campus at 2:30 p.m.

A cheering crowd would provide a fitting welcome for the Marreros (and look great for the University photographers who will be on hand to document Dr. Marrero’s first day).

Please come out to each building a few minutes before they arrive to pick up a sign or pom-pom.

Dr. Marrero’s first day will include walking tours of the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses with a student ambassador. He and his family are eager to meet Georgia southern employees and students. Please say ‘hi’ to them if you see them on campus.

As a reminder, welcome receptions for Dr. Marrero are scheduled for Tuesday (4/2) at 2:30 p.m. in the Nessmith-Lane Center Ballroom on the Statesboro Campus, and Thursday (4/4) at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom B&C on the Armstrong Campus. He is scheduled to visit the Liberty Campus on April 9.
