The NYU Shanghai Student Research Program in Molecular Science – 3 to 6 months program with flexible starting dates. During the program, the students will have the opportunity to actively participate in research projects under the mentorship of a professor who is active at the forefront of his or her field of chemistry and biology. Clemson Chemistry REU Program: This Summer Undergraduate Research Program will provide selected students with unique research training and professional development through an intensive ten-week summer program in the Department of Chemistry. In line with the strategic goals of the university, research opportunities will fall within two broad focus areas: Advanced Materials and Chemical Biology.
Brigham Young University REU: This Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) site will provide you with the opportunity to spend 10 weeks performing research in a state-of-the-art chemistry or biochemistry lab of your choice. In several labs you will solve research problems connected to chemistry or biochemistry industries. Deadline: February 15th
Florida State University – the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Florida State University is dedicated to the study of photochemistry and photophysics-the events that take place upon the interaction of light with matter. This is an exciting area of science, with relevance to such important phenomena as information transmission and storage, sensing technologies, solar energy conversion, photodynamic therapy, photocatalysis, and photosynthesis. The REU experience covers a range of diverse research projects and techniques. The faculty guiding REU students are national and international leaders in their areas of chemistry. Syracuse University – The program is open to all students who have completed their first year of study and who have a serious interest in chemistry. Penn Chemistry Research Experiences for Undergraduates – The CatResDev REU at Penn Chemistry will offer undergraduates (UGs) with limited previous experience in research exposure, including students from underrepresented minority (URM) backgrounds. This site will provide projects in the areas of catalysis and molecular dynamics with cross-over into the methods associated with high throughput experimentation (HTE) while learning the fundamentals of success in science via training, mentoring, and industrial partnerships. Clean Energy Bridge to Research REU / RET Program – For students who have completed two years of college, community college, or tribal college. This is a nine-week immersive research project in a single lab leading to an abstract and poster. This session provides a stipend of $5,000, on-campus housing, $600 for food, and a $500 travel allowance. Deadline: February 15th
University of Minnesota MRSEC: will provide up to 20 full-time summer research positions to undergraduate students during the summer of 2020. University of FL Whitney Laboratory Research Experience for Undergraduate program (REU): funded by the National Science Foundation (Site Award 0648969), offers an exceptional opportunity for the motivated undergraduate to participate in scientific research. If you are serious about science but have never had the opportunity to perform work as a scientist, then this program is for you. In cooperation with a faculty supervisor, students choose a project that fits both their interests and ongoing investigations of the Lab and that can be completed within the ten-week training period during the summer. The program, which is designed for students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. or M.F.A. degree and enter academic careers, provides the tools needed to facilitate application, admission, and enrollment to graduate school. Sustainable Chemistry at Texas A&M University: Most students find the REU summer research program to be a useful way to explore the graduate school experience at a top Chemistry program. Our faculty have an outstanding record of providing students rewarding summer research experiences, usually resulting in co-authorship on publications and/or presentations. In addition to the focus on individual research projects, students will participate in weekly career development seminars, learning about many aspects of effective science communication. Students in the Chemistry REU will interact with students in other undergraduate research programs across campus and will receive personal mentoring from faculty, graduate students, and industrial chemists. UT Chemistry REU Program Application: UT Chemistry’s 10-week REU program is funded by NSF and carefully devised as a comprehensive initial research experience to provide participating students with the diverse skills necessary to pursue a career and further education in the field of chemistry. We offer research spanning the traditional fields of chemistry, and additionally benefit from collaborative efforts that impart a broad range of skills. While the research experience is the primary component, our program will also provide comprehensive training such as interactive ethics course and professional development training exercises including the preparation of personal career documents, interactions with researchers from both industry and nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory, interactive panel discussions, and seminar series to prepare you for future endeavors. National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) – Students participate in an eight-week summer program sponsored by the University of Central Oklahoma and funded by the National Science Foundation. They will study aspects of the foraging ecology of solitary bees and honey bees in their native regions of the world. (Closed)
Auburn University – This REU Site is a novel, collaborative effort involving Auburn University faculty mentors specializing in diverse but complementary disciplines, including community ecology, fisheries management, aquaculture, evolution, limnology, molecular biology, microbiology, invasive species, fish behavior, outreach, physiology, parasitology, and conservation. Together these disciplines provide the education basis for undergraduate students to learn about techniques and tools to study aquatic communities, specifically warm-water systems such as reservoirs, farm ponds, streams, and brackish estuaries. The primary objectives of this project include exposing participants to different scientific hypotheses, research techniques, and ecological habitats and conditions in an engaging, interdisciplinary atmosphere that fosters a strong interest in aquatic sciences by the next generation of water experts. BRITE REU – The BRITE REU at BU Bioinformatics (Bioinformatics Research and Interdisciplinary Training Experience) focuses on computational and mathematical fundamentals of bioinformatics analysis through research projects in a broad range of topics, including gene regulatory networks, metabolic networks, analysis of microbial communities, synthetic biology, enzyme structure and function, machine learning methods for cancer subtype classification, and sequence analysis algorithms for identifying genetic variation. Summer Systematics Institute 2019 – SSI is a nine-week paid research internship at our state-of-the-art research facility and museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. This world-renowned venue continues to offer undergraduates important insights into the contributions that museum-based research can make to issues facing society today. The program accommodates up to 10 undergraduate students. This internship is made possible by the National Science Foundation and a generous gift from the Robert T. Wallace Endowment for undergraduate research experiences. One internship in Biological Illustration is integrated with the SSI program. Deadline: February 13th
Central Michigan University Great Lakes Research Experiences for Undergraduates – This Central Michigan University Great Lakes Research Experiences for Undergraduates program, funded by the National Science Foundation and the College of Science and Engineering, supports the training of 8 students for 10 weeks during the summers of 2019-2021 (tentative 2019 dates are May 28-August 3). Fort Johnson Summer Undergraduate Research Program – The Fort Johnson Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a ten week internship combining independent research with activities to promote career development and science communication skills. Participants will investigate diverse topics on the health of marine organisms at the individual, population, community, and species levels, using a wide variety of laboratory and field techniques. Up to 10 fellowships are awarded each year through the cooperative efforts of the 5 marine institutions at Fort Johnson and supported by funds from the National Science Foundation and the College of Charleston School of Sciences and Mathematics. Natural History REU – Natural History Research Experiences (NHRE) is a 10-week summer internship program hosted at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. NHRE interns work closely with scientific mentors to complete independent research projects in Earth Science, Biology, and Anthropology. (Closed)
LSU Health- Underrepresented students in the basic sciences will be provided with one-on-one training by LSUHSC faculty in designing and conducting experiments, as well as presenting their results. In addition to research, interns will participate in seminars and interactive workshops on topics such as resume writing for graduate school applications and responsible conduct in research. This program also offers high school internship opportunities. Accepted students are matched with laboratories in one of LSUHSC’s Departments or Centers of Basic Sciences. Deadline: March 15th

Princeton Neuroscience Institute – Princeton Neuroscience Institute (PNI) is offering a summer internship program for highly motivated undergraduates, providing education and hands-on research experience in the field of neuroscience. Participants will closely collaborate with students and faculty at PNI on original research projects, and thereby gain invaluable first-hand experience on what it is like to be a neuroscientist. The Gregory S. Call Undergraduate Research Program: This program provides a stipend of $480 per week plus the cost of on-campus room and board for students to engage in a substantial research project under the supervision of an Amherst College faculty member. The standard duration of the fellowship is from six to eight weeks, and most of the students elect to work for the full eight weeks. Please note that students must live on campus if awarded summer research funds. The majority of the students who participate in the program are rising seniors doing preliminary research for their senior honors theses, but a substantial number of rising sophomores and juniors also participate, by formulating their own research proposals and finding faculty members to supervise them. The fellowships are available to students in all disciplines. Under this program, students who hope to conduct research off-campus, under the sponsorship of a faculty member, can also apply for a one-time grant of $1,000 to fund some of their research expenses. Physics Internships

University of Rochester REU – Over the summer research period, participants attend a series of informal seminars covering research and related topics, such as preparing for graduate school. These seminars are intended to foster discussion among REU students and faculty. The core research experience takes place in the context of research groups working at the University’s research facilities. At the end of the program students present their work at an informal symposium. They are encouraged to work with their research advisors toward completion of publications, submission of abstracts, and presentations of their work at professional and student conferences. Funding may also be provided in the following academic year to allow students to complete scientific articles on their research and/or support their attendance and presentations at conferences. University of Rochester participants are required to present their results at the local RSPS and URE undergraduate research conferences in the spring. (Closed)
Black Hills State University – Black Hills State University will host a 10-week REU program centered on underground science at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) each summer. A cohort of students will participate in exciting underground research projects as well as professional development, social and outreach activities. Deadline: February 25th
Brigham Young University UT – REU: Undergraduate participants will receive a $5,000 stipend, round-trip travel expenses to Provo, Utah, free housing (for outside students), and a food stipend. In addition, after the program is over, selected students will be funded to travel to a regional or national conference to give a presentation on their research results. Deadline: February 13th

Nano-, Bio-, and Quantum Photonics: This program will engage participating students in the frontiers of photonics research in nanoscience, bioscience and quantum science while at the same time providing them with experiences to recognize the excellent career opportunities, both academic and industry based, available in photonics. The host department is the university’s world-renowned Institute of Optics, located in the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. University of Rochester: The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program is funded by the National Science Foundation to support twelve highly qualified students to undertake supervised research projects in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, for a period of 10 weeks each summer. The Center for Power Optimization of Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS): The Center for Power Optimization of Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS) offers a 10-week summer research program that provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to explore careers in research. Students gain an experience that will help strengthen their knowledge, skills and understanding of research methodologies as well as graduate school. The POETS REU program places students at one of its four universities: Howard University, Stanford University, University of Arkansas, and University of Illinois. While at a POETS institution, REU students work on a POETS research project under the guidance and mentorship of a faculty member and graduate student or post-doctoral mentor. In addition to research, students will participate in bi-weekly research seminars and professional development workshops, engage in a variety of social and professional events and communicate their research progress at multiple venues including POETS’ annual meeting in September. Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science at Oregon State University: The purpose of the program is to give ten motivated and talented students an opportunity to learn the process of doing research in mathematics and theoretical computer science and to learn more about these areas as a discipline and profession. profession. Participants receive a $4000 stipend, $500 travel allowance, and a double-occupancy room in campus housing. In addition, 12 units of academic credit (quarter system) are earned, and tuition and fees are paid. During the program, we make a point of discussing graduate and career opportunities. We do our best to offer advice and support after the program and encourage students to present their results at professional conferences. Deadline: February 22nd
