Diversity Peer Educators


Our mission, as Diversity Peer Educators, is to increase awareness, knowledge and skills necessary to create change and engage in helpful conversations about diversity, inclusion and fairness.


  • Create a dialogue about diversity, inclusion and fairness.
  • Facilitate education, programs and outreach initiatives related to social justice and identity.
  • Increase students’ awareness and cultural competence.
  • Provide opportunities to develop effective cross-cultural communication skills.

DPE Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate Multicultural Competence.
  • Demonstrate effective facilitation skills during presentations and workshops offered throughout the academic year
  • Demonstrate openness to other cultural and values expressed during workshops
  • Articulate their individual impact on social justice education and their role in supporting diversity awareness and inclusion at Georgia Southern University.

Diversity Peer Educator Requirements:

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate, degree-seeking students who has completed at least one semester at Georgia Southern University before application.
  • Demonstrate an interest, passion, commitment and willingness to learn about diversity, inclusion and fairness.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be able to work efficiently with a diverse group of team members.
  • Be able to attend weekly training sessions.
  • Be able to attend bi-weekly meetings & training sessions.
  • Assist with new Peer Educator training.
  • Possess and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.5 at the time of application and throughout the program.

Diversity Peer Educator Responsibilities:

  • Regularly reflect and educate themselves about diversity, inclusion, and fairness.
  • Plan, promote and facilitate programs and initiatives for the Multicultural Student Center and the Diversity Peer Educator program.
  • Assist with new Peer Educator training.

Talk Tuesdays

Think D.I.F. Workshops – Conversations about social justice, social media, and currently events.  Do you have something to say?  Let’s talk about it!  Every 2nd Tuesday of the month in RU 2080 from Noon – 1:30 p.m.  Lunch will be provided – first come, first served.

D.I.F. Conference
Annual  diversity conference that encourages attendees to Think Diversity, Be Inclusive, and Create Fairness.  Check back for information regarding DIF 2021!
